2017 Dodge Caravan Updates
2017 Dodge Caravan Updates
There are several Dodge Caravan updates for 2017 that improve an already impressive minivan platform. The seven seat minivan has been revived earlier in 2016, and the changes extend to the new model year. Although FCA had originally planned on halting production of the Dodge Caravan, it’s selling so well that they have extended the Caravan lease on life.
There are several Dodge Caravan updates that can boost value across the board for any minivan shopper. Here’s just a few of the major developments for the 2017 Dodge Caravan below.
2017 Dodge Caravan updates
Price adjustments – New for 2017, the Dodge Caravan receives several price changes to all models. The base Caravan SE is reduced in price by $1,000 dollars, while the other trims get slightly more expensive. Starting from $600 dollars more expensive for the SE Plus, the Dodge Caravan tops out at $1000 dollars more expensive for the top of the line SXT model.
These price changes continue to make the Dodge Caravan one of the most affordable minivan choices available. With an excellent blend of options and features, the Caravan is still the innovator and leader for the minivan segment.
Trim changes – The Dodge Caravan eliminates the now discontinued AVP trim, leaving the SE as the base model. The changes to the SE model have also become standard for the base Dodge Caravan.
These features include second-row bucket seats, power windows and the Dodge Uconnect infotainment system. Base Caravans also come standard now with 17-inch alloy wheels and higher grade interior materials. One of the most popular features, the Caravan Stow ‘n Go seats for the second and third rows are also standard.
Gone also is the RT trim of the Dodge Caravan, replaced by the new GT trim for 2017. The new GT Dodge Caravan includes heated first and second row seats, as well as a heated steering wheel.
Powertrain – Unchanged for 2017, the Dodge Caravan comes with a variety of power train choices. You can choose from all wheel drive transmission layouts, paired to the 3.6 liter V6 Caravan engine. Unchanged from the previous year, it’s unknown just how far the Caravan will continue production.
Conclusion – Although the Dodge Caravan updates are minor overall, the improvements take an already incredible minivan and make it better. Pairing affordability with the functionality and flexibility of the Caravan could extend production well past the 2017 model year.
There’s no doubt that the Dodge Caravan is one of the most innovative and creative minivans in history. It’s incredible success may have been surpassed by several competitors but when it comes to the original there’s not many choices that are better.
Compared to other minivans, the Dodge Caravan may show it’s age but there’s still incredible value here. For budget minded minivan shoppers, there’s few options that are better than the Dodge Caravan.
